Grace stared at the curb for a couple of minutes before looking at the house before her. Her childhood home had so many memories it worried her that the walls could burst at any moment. One bad memory stood out among the rest, and Gracie couldn't fight the urge to relive it. It was about her and Amanda, as usual.
"Grace Juliette Jameson! Come down here now!" Bethany Jameson shouted up the stairs, crossing her arms as a 13 year old Gracie ran down, her brown hair flying around her face as she skidded to a halt on the bottom step. "Yes Momma?" She asked, staring curiously at her mother. "Why haven't you started on your homework? It's almost six and Dinner will be ready in an hour." Beth placed her hands on her hips, staring at her oldest daughter. Grace bit her lip nervously as she tried coming up with an excuse. "Well... I was reading a book to Jennifer before her nap. She came into my room and handed me the one about Noah's Arc. So i read it to her and put her down." She said, smiling to herself at what she had just come up with. Bethany stared at Grace, and then glanced up the stairs. "Oh. Well Thank you sweetie. That was really helpful, But you better get a start on that homework before your father comes home." She said, turning back towards the kitchen. Gracie quietly marched up the stairs and back to her room, trying not to wake her sleeping sister. The truth was, Gracie and Aiden had worn Jennifer out by playing a game, and she had gone to take her nap hours ago. Looking over at her brother's door right by the stairs, She saw Aiden give her a thumbs up on her story, as he continued working on his homework. With her smile even wider now, Grace walked into her room only to find Amanda sitting at her desk, reading her diary. Manda looked up and smiled, a gap showing between her teeth, where one of her baby teeth were missing. "Oh. Hi Gracie. Wait till Daddy find out about you and that boy Gregory down the street!" She said, ripping the page from the small book and attempting to run out of the room. Grace stopped her sister and pulled her by the arm back into the room and closing the door. "Amanda give me that right now!" She said in a threating voice, holding her hand out. Amanda glared at her sister, before going over to the window. "Let me out now, or I'll start screaming. And everyone on the block will come and see what is wrong." She said, unlatching the window and pushing it open. Grace stared at her shocked, before stepping closer. "Amanda Jane Jameson! Don't you dare." She said, placing her hands on her hips. Manda sucked in a big breath and stared screaming bloody murder. Huffing, Gracie walked up to her sister and slapped her hard across the face. "Well. THAT shut you up." She thought, picking up the page Amanda had dropped on the floor. Amanda stared at her older sister in shock, oblivious to the pain and the giant red mark now forming across her cheek. "You hit me." She said, dumbfounded.
Grace nodded her head while placing the ripped page back into her diary. "You deserved it. For one, you came into my room even though you weren't allowed. Two, You read my diary. And Three, You started screaming. It was the only way to shut you up." She said, smirking. Amanda glared at Grace for a second, before marching into out into the hall way. "MOMMA! MOMMA, GRACE HIT ME! MOMMA!" That noise woke up Jennifer, who started screaming herself. Grace shoved past Amanda, and walked past Aiden, who was yelling at Amanda to shut up. With Jennifer on her hip, She walked back out into the hallway, where her father now stood. He was mad, and you never want to get him mad. "What did you do?" He asked Grace, crossing his arms. "Manda came into my room, read my diary, ripped it, and then started screaming. Hitting her was the only way to shut her up." Grace said, switching Jenn to her other hip. Amanda ran up to her father and hugged him tight around the waist. "Not true Daddy! She hit me for no reason, AND she didn't finish her homework." She said, smiling over at her. Grace felt her cheeks flush and tightened her hold on the baby, so she wouldn't hit Amanda again. "You're grounded Gracie. No Phone, No going anywhere for 3 weeks." He said, walking back downstairs. Manda smiled up at Grace and followed her dad down the stairs. Giving Jenn to Aiden, Grace walked into her room and slammed the door shut.
"Come on Gracie! It's Christmas for god's sake." Aiden pleaded, tugging at his twin's arm. "No. I can't go in there, not even for Christmas." She said pulling her arm free of Aiden's grasp. turning back to her car, Grace felt his hand on her shoulder. "Gracie... Do it for Jenni. She wants you to be here for Christmas this time." He said, crossing his fingers behind his back. Grace turned around and glared at her brother. "Using my baby sister against me. Aiden Ryan you should be ashamed of yourself." She said, walking up the path to the front door. "Yeah Yeah, I am. And I'll pray to God in hopes that he doesn't hit me with a lightening bolt when i fall asleep tonight." Aiden replied, walking along side of her and into the house.
